The Wellness CSI™ Method

You want to put it all together.

Good place to start. Your sleep, food, stress, movement, work, relationships, recovery and the rest of your life were never separate subjects. They've always been happening to one person. You.

The Wellness CSI™ Method gives you a practical way to work backward from the solution you're considering until you understand the question you're actually trying to solve.

SHOW ME HOW IT WORKS ↓

Where most of us begin

You were trained to look somewhere else.

And there has never been a shortage of places to look.

Sleep protocols
Different diets
Supplements
Workouts
Stress apps
Morning routines
Cold plunges
Saunas
Wearables
Podcasts
The next expert
The next book

Sometimes one of those things helps. But before you decide what to change, work backward and figure out what you're actually trying to solve.

The Method

Start with the solution. Work backwards.

If you're already thinking about a diet, supplement, sleep protocol, workout or some other answer, fine. Start there. Then investigate why that answer feels necessary in the first place.

01

What are you trying to fix?

What solution are you already considering? Start with the answer that's already in your head.

02

Why this solution?

What are you experiencing that made you think you needed it? Now we move from the proposed solution to the actual signal or problem.

03

When did it start?

Roughly when did you first notice it? Now you have a timeline instead of a vague feeling that something is off.

04

What else changed?

Work. Sleep. Food. Training. Travel. Relationships. Medication. Stress. Environment. Recovery. What else was happening around the same time?

05

What deserves a reasonable test?

Choose one reasonable move based on what you learned. Not six changes at once. Otherwise, if you feel better, congratulations: you have no idea why.

06

What did you learn?

Better? Worse? No difference? All three tell you something. Keep what helps. Drop what doesn't. Then decide what makes sense next.

You are the investigator. The Method simply gives you a better way to ask the next question.
No corkboard required.

What it looks like

Let's work one backwards.

You think you need a better sleep protocol.

Instead of immediately prescribing one, we investigate why that solution came to mind.

Proposed solution
“I need a better sleep protocol.”
Why?
“I keep waking up around 2:30 AM.”
When?
“About six weeks ago.”
What else changed?
Work got heavier. Dinner moved later. Training stayed the same.
Reasonable first test
Move dinner and bedtime back toward the previous pattern before changing everything else.
What happened?
Now we have information instead of another guess.

Why this matters

Because guessing gets expensive.

Not only financially. It costs time, attention and energy. Sometimes it costs months spent solving the wrong problem.

See patterns sooner.

Get better at noticing what changed instead of treating every signal like it appeared by itself.

Make fewer random changes.

Change one reasonable thing at a time so you can actually learn from what happens.

Ask better questions.

Know more about what is happening when you decide it's time to bring in a physician or another professional.

You don't need every answer. You need a better way to investigate the question.

The Black Book of Wellness

Want to use the Method yourself?

The Black Book of Wellness™ gives you somewhere to do it.

Its questions, worksheets and Bonus Tools help you slow something down, put it on paper, notice what you may have missed and try one reasonable change at a time.

You don't have to complete everything. Start with the page that helps with what matters now.
